Cedar Grove, NJ, Lodge members treated 25 veterans to a Labor Day Barbecue, a performance by a come- dian, and a visit with Lady Petite America, Miss Petite America, and Ms. Woman Petite America.


Cranford, NJ, Lodge members spoke at the dedication of a Purple Heart monument at Veterans Memorial Park in New Providence. Lodge members serve on the board of the Military Order of the Purple Heart organiza- tion, which erected the monument.


Glens Falls, NY, Lodge members visited the Albany VA Medical Center: Samuel S. Stratton and treated about 200 veterans and staff members to ice cream and popcorn. The lodge also donated several music CDs and audiotapes and about 50 books to the center’s library.

Vestal, NY, Lodge members visited the New York State Veterans Home– Oxford and treated more than 80 residents, staff, and visitors to dessert.


Burlington, NC, Lodge members visited the Durham VA Medical Center and treated about 25 veterans to refreshments and bingo games.


Grants Pass, OR, Lodge members hosted 39 veterans from the Roseburg VA Medical Center for lunch.


Roseburg, OR, Lodge hosted a lunch for 45 veterans from the Roseburg VA Medical Center.


In other news, lodge members volunteered to assist veterans from the Roseburg VA Medical Center while they attended three days of free activities at the Douglas County Fair.


Bristol, PA, Lodge members, with the help of scouts from Boy Scout Troop


No. 9 and lodge-sponsored Venture Crew No. 220, visited the Philadelphia VA Medical Center and treated more than 40 veterans to a picnic lunch.


Beaumont, TX, Lodge members, with the help of the Elks/Wounded Warrior Project, treated three wounded veterans from the San Antonio Military Medical Center to a week of hunting, fishing, and other outdoor recreational activities. The lodge also held a dinner at the lodge in the veterans’ honor, which 90 people, including scouts from Boy Scout Troop No. 39, attended.


Staunton, VA, Lodge held a Charity Trap Shoot fund-raiser and raised more than $840 for the Wounded Warrior Project, which helps wounded veterans of current conflicts make the transition to civilian life.


Bremerton, WA, Lodge members treated nine veterans from the Washington Veterans Home to a barbecue meal followed by a visit to the Kitsap County Fair and Stampede rodeo event. ■
