Honolulu, HI, Lodge, with the help of participants from the lodge’s Youth Paddling Program, held a Car/Truck/Dog Wash fund-raiser. Paddling program participants washed about 60 vehicles and one dog and raised $500 for the paddling program, which serves young people ages 10 to 18. Poway, CA, Lodge held its annual Purple Pig Dinner fund-raiser and through dinner sales, donations, and a
raffle, raised nearly $5,100 for the state major project, which provides in- home therapy at no charge to children with special needs.

San Luis Obispo, CA, Lodge held an all-day Sunsplash Pool Party and Music Festival fund-raiser, which featured live music, swimming, food, and raffles. About 250 people attended the event, which raised $2,000 for the lodge’s scholarship and student of the month programs. In other news, lodge members spent three months instructing nearly 100 children in the basics of swimming at the lodge’s pool.
Santa Barbara, CA, Lodge held a Youth Appreciation Dinner, honored the members of Team Oswego, a girls’ soccer team that won the U–14 American Youth Soccer Organization championship, and treated the team to dinner. The lodge had previously helped pay for the team to travel to the national championship in Florida. Lodge members also honored the two
Frederick, MD, Lodge, with the help of scouts from lodge-sponsored Boy Scout Troop No. 1998, held its second annual Patriots Day Ceremony. During the ceremony, lodge members honored the memory of those who died during the terrorist attacks of 9/11 and recognized local first responders. Frederick Police Department Officer Patrick Spevak was awarded the Paul Mossburg Law Enforcement Award and Fort Detrick Fire Department Company 50 was given the Fire and Rescue Award, while Company 50 Chief David Eskildsen, Community Prosecutor Ed Lulie, and United Steam Fire Engine Company 3 Firefighter Jerry Dorsey were given certificates of appreciation.
