Aripeka, FL, Lodge held a Save Our Gulf Coast Beach Party and collected 53 bottles of detergent and numerous sheets and towels. The collected items were donated to agencies participating in oil spill cleanup activities. In other news, the lodge donated $250 to the West Pasco Youth Soccer Association.
Fort Myers, FL, Lodge members distributed dictionaries and books on how to use a dictionary and a thesau- rus to 130 third-grade students at Villas Elementary School.
Largo, FL, Lodge held an Island Party fund-raiser, which featured dinner, games, and live and silent auctions, and raised more than $5,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and $2,000 for various local charities.
Vero Beach, FL, Lodge held a Benefit Dinner fund-raiser, which was attended by 240 people, and through dinner sales, raffles, and donations raised $6,000 for the family of Denise Matteo, who is undergoing treatment for cancer and has exhausted her health insurance.
Eatonton, GA, Lodge held its third annual Youth Golf Clinic at the Uncle Remus Golf Course. Lodge members provided golf equipment and instruc- tion to about 44 children for one morning each week for three weeks and on the fourth week held a three- hole tournament, during which the children were divided into four flights based on their skill level. The children also took part in a Pitch and Putt Contest, which was followed by a lunch for all the participants. Lodge members gave each child who partici- pated in the tournament a certificate and gave a trophy to each of the first- and second-place winners of each flight. Lodge members also gave a sleeve of golf balls to each of the four winners of the Pitch and Putt Contest.
LaGrange, GA, Lodge members treated about 250 emergency services personnel and their family members to a barbecue lunch.
Erie, PA, Lodge held its annual Richard Sullivan Scholarship Golf Outing, in which 144 golfers participated, and raised $1,000, which was presented to Fairview High School graduate Rebecca Wisniewski as a scholarship.
