Guidance for accessing and view- ing the interactive features
The new sportEX interactive articles contain various different features including website links, pictures, videos, extra notes, flow charts and links to specific refer- ences and relevant books. In order to view the article, you firstly need to ensure that you have subscribed to online access. This costs just £10 per year if you already subscribe to the paper version of the publication or £40 per year if you do not have a current subscription to the paper version. In order to access the online articles you need to log in to the sportEX website at www.sportex.net
You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader (free download) in order to view these arti- cles which are presented in PDF format. for online access. If you don’t already have this software click the following link: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
Click on the word Magazines in the left hand menu bar of the website and then select the appropriate publication and issue number, if you have logged in cor- rectly you will see a red download button on the right of each article. Clicking this button will open the PDF automatically as long as you have Acrobat Reader.
Once you have opened the article you will see an interactive logo, whenever you see this logo or part of the text underlined this means there is an interactive link. In order to view the video clips you will need Windows Media Player (free video viewer). If you don’t already have this software,
click on the following link
http://www.microsoft/windows/windowsmedia/download/ - and select the correct version for your computer (there is also a version for Macs).
Before you click on any of the links, it is necessary to open a blank browser page eg. Internet Explorer/Safari/Netscape etc. The reason for this is that when you open the video clips they appear in this separate window. Please note that the website browser page must be opened after the article PDF has been opened in order for this to work. Now you are ready to use the interactive features.
WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR We are currently using two different methods for linking to interactive features: 1) Wherever you spot the interactive i-sign - use your mouse to hovver over this area and this will link you directly to the relevent feature. 2) Any underlined text indicates a hyperlink - this include links to third party websites, additional images, other features such as word documents, relevant course links, book titles and references.
