Dr Greg Whyte PhD, BSc (Hons Welcome to the Spring edition of sportEX medicine for 2010.
By the time you receive this issue of sportEX we’ll be about 830 days away from London 2012 so it seems fitting that we start the magazine with an update on volunteering as a physical therapist for this once in a lifetime occasion. We have followed this up with the second part of our refresher series on sports injuries, written by GP and sports medic, Dr Simon Kay. We have built a reputation on publishing these kind of practical articles and it feels good to be including them again. These days we can also enhance them with videos which hopefully adds even more value to the experience!
We then have a thought-provoking article on thoracic outlet syndrome. As you will have seen from the articles we published last year on vascular issues in the shoulder, there’s a lot of intricate anatomy in this area of the body and we hope that this article on TOS complements our previously published articles.
Part 2 of image guided therapy focuses this time on the practical application of choosing the right intervention for the right injury and finally we look at the approach and preparation by the physiotherapy team looking after the GB Paralympic adaptive rowing team for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, currently the newest Paralympic sport.
