The most important thing for me to say is THANK YOU! Thank you for bringing both me and sportEX medicine this far, for believing in it, and for letting me still do what I love more than anything in the world. I wish you a VERY happy and healthy new year.

Welcome
Welcome to the first issue of sportEX medicine for 2009 and amazingly (for me at least!) to the year of our 10th anniversary! Our first ever
issue of sportEX medicine was published in July 1999, the cover honouring my first love of tennis, and many of my very first subscribers are still with me - I know from your subs numbers - neither sportEX medicine or I would be here without you!
In some ways things have changed dramatically, the ubiquity and increasing speed of the internet gives us opportunities for huge advances in terms of the sophistication of our content and our communications with you. However in some ways things remain much as they did that first year I started life as my own employer. I still play a very hands on role, however very gratefully now supported by three fantastic editors who truly believe in the practical ethos we uphold. For me I feel we can still do more to make sportEX medicine even more practical. In this issue the shoulder and the hamstring articles both have animated material accompanying the online version - you will see more and more of this in 2009 along with a new website (I know it’s long overdue!!).
