Yellow, red, lime green and cyan blue is what you should be seen in, in 2010, according to designers at MASCOT. And it is only in 2010 that you can get these T shirts as, for the first time, MASCOT has launched a Limited Edition range and the preliminary sales

suggest this is not the last time. The new T-shirts are first and foremost designed to work in – even though they can be used as leisurewear. The range is produced in 100% cotton, in 13 colours and styles. They are perfect for the summer. Another new product in the same category is the Pavia – a polyester/bamboo T shirt base layer which has a strong UV protection of +50. The T shirt is most optimally used as a base layer since it is both moisture wicking, anti-bacterial and antistatic. In the cool morning hours it might be necessary to have a long sleeved top on over. To help with this task MASCOT also has a few new suggestions. Two brand new zipped sweatshirts makes the transition between cool mornings and warm afternoons pleasant and

Duraweld passes to the next generation

Richard Senior, owner and chairman of Scarborough-based Duraweld Ltd, has sold the company to two of its managers, Hannah Senior, and her husband Mark Yeung. Hannah is the company’s chief operating officer and Mark its finance manager. The buy-out strengthens the company’s position as one of the UK’s leading producers of customised stationery, presentation and packaging products, and provides a new platform to develop the business going forward. Hannah Senior, Richard’s daughter, joined the company in September 2008, after completing an MBA at Stanford Graduate School of Business, California. Since joining Duraweld, she has been closely involved with all

aspects of the business. Mark Yeung joined Duraweld in 2009, and took over the running of the company’s financial operations. A graduate in manufacturing engineering and with an MBA from Harvard, Mark worked for management consultants McKinsey and Company and was part of the team which set up Tesco’s ‘Fresh & Easy’ retail operation in the US. Richard Senior commented: “I am delighted that this young, energetic management team will be leading the business into the future. Since joining Duraweld, Hannah and Mark have brought with them lots of fresh thinking and new ideas that are having a very positive impact. It’s great news for the company and I

New resin inks launched for solvent machines

Sign and Digital UK will see the launch in the UK of a new water-based ink. B&P Graphic Supplies Ltd is bringing to the market the SEPIAX range of AquaRes Resin ink. SEPIAX inks are the first inks worldwide that combine the advantage of the harmlessness of water-based inks with the advantage of the reliability of solvent inks or UV inks. Andrew Wilson, managing director, said: “There are many sign-makers and digital printers who are setting money aside in their budgets to purchase new technology in the form of UV or latex printers – they will be relieved to know there is now a cost-effective alternative.”

| 8 | April 2010

The new range of AquaRes inks offers all the advantages of solvent inks without the Health and Safety issues normally associated with solvents, and without the high capital costs of moving to latex technology. The new inks will run in existing solvent machines using piezo printing head technology, with a simple changeover process and no major modifications to those machines. With perfect adhesion and abrasion- proofing on PVC banner, polyester, Tyvek (without coating) or even standard offset paper, aluminium foil

etc. The fact that the media does not need to be coated, or have any expensive pre-treatment, means the cost per square metre is minimised. With a colour gamut and UV durability similar to that of solvent inks, but zero- odour, it means that there are new applications for these inks both indoors and outdoors. No harmful solvents are used in the formulation of this ink, so it gives the ability to run a printer in a crowded working space, and to install prints produced with the ink in normal working environments. AquaRes inks are available in primary colours (CMYK), and light colours. For more information call 01256 859900.
