Creative Apparel rises to the challenge after fire at HQ

Stockport-based Creative Apparel didn't let a little thing like a fire get in the way of their business. Although it took seven months for the company to get back on their feet, just one day's production was lost, after borrowing equipment from Manchester Umbrellas. The fire, which started in the lower level of the three-storey building and was caused by eco bags, destroyed the entire printing department. James Fletcher, design and development manager, said: "Everything was caught on film by a security camera that was situated

approximately 60ft from the place where the fire started. "It only took 20 minutes from the initial flame before the security camera melted and stopped recording." The fire was so intense that it affected clothing stored on the third floor. Adds James: "Any jobs that Creative Apparel were unable to do due to the fire were handed out to other printers throughout the UK. "It has taken until February 2010 for Creative Apparel to get back on its feet."

Daiber cap wins Promotional Gift Award

Daiber brand Myrtle Beach's new Coldblack Flexfit Cap (MB 6186) beat almost 300 products to win the International Gift Awards' communicative product trophy. The cap was designed in-house by Ramona Zipfel to meet the growing de-mand for high-functional products. The textile treatment, Coldblack by Schoeller Technologies AG, helps reflect sunlight and UV and prevents dark textiles from heating up in the sun. The cap has a protection factor of 30 against dangerous UV rays.
