GARMENT DECORATION AWARDS
BEST DIRECT TO GARMENT INKJET PRINT
house, which outlined the owl's feet, allowing confirmation of position before any details were stitched in place. The length of run timed for this job was three and a half hours.
Judge's comments:
The quality is really good. It's a very good combination of detailed print and detailed embroidery. The hardest thing when you are doing print and embroidery is getting the registration correct and matching them up. I think they have done a superb job on that. In fact, some of the print looks like embroidery.
Runner up: Screenworks Ltd, Daniel Porter, for Cherub
Sean Barker, of GS UK Ltd, with runner up, Adams & Joe Glastonbury A-Z.
Hannah Morgan, from GS UK Ltd, scooped first prize in the Best Direct To Garment Inkjet Print category.
Winner: GS UK Ltd., Hannah Morgan, for Chinese Dragon
This entry was produced on a Brother GT541 garment printer. Hannah was inspired by her own photographs of a Chinese New Year event in Liverpool. "The colours and patterns caught my eye and inspired me to do my own designs in Adobe Illustrator. The Chinese dragon works really well as a print. I used the GT541 to create this effect using normal settings full colour, uni- directional and 0.73cc of ink to get the best print I could," she said.
Judge's comments:
The colours look nice and bright - even though they are quite pastelly. The placement of the design has been well thought through and the design has been originated by the entrant. It's a bit different.
Runner up, Gareth Evans, from YES Ltd.

BEST COMBINED OR OTHER DECORATION
Winner: Evolve Branding Ltd, Gareth Street, for Owl
Simon Tuck of Screenworks Ltd, with “Cherub”, submitted by Daniel Porter.
Judge's comments:
A very close second. With all the different techniques and then just a little subtlety with the embroidery. You would hardly know that's embroidery. It just gives a little bit of 3D. They have gone to a lot of trouble to make the diamonds shine with a wet gloss effect ink. They have got the diamonds to sparkle and the design is well placed.
Runner up: TheMagicTouch, Nathan
Runner up, Nathan Newbury, of TheMagicTouch, with his Union Jack Diamonte design.
Newbury, for Union Jack Judge's comments:
The imitation sequins are very soft to the feel and the placement is very accurate.
