Cameo designed to be even more versatile

Recognised throughout the screen printing industry as one of the most versatile and easy-to-operate machines, the Cameo recently received upgrades and options that have further enhanced its adaptability to numerous applications. Leading the list of improvements is the Adjust-It feature which allows the press operator to quickly and accurately lower the printing table to accommodate thicker substrates. Previously, lowering the printing table required more than one person, using both time and personnel to make the change. Now, the operator simply releases two locking levers, hand cranks the table to the desired height and locks it into place. The process is completed without any tools or re-leveling in just minutes. Depending on the model, the Cameo is capable of printing on substrates up to 14” thick and is suitable for boxes, cabinets and other 3D objects with a flat surface. Once used primarily for graphics, the Cameo’s new optional pallet

attachments make it suitable for printing T shirts and other small textiles too. Covered with white- nitrile rubber to provide the best possible printing surface, the Cameo’s all-aluminum, quick-release Stay- Flat T shirt pallet is available on all size Cameo models. Print sizes include 12 x 18” (30 x 46 cm), 14 x 24” (36 x 61 cm), 22 x 30” (56 x 76 cm), and 25 x 38” (64 x 97 cm). A jacket holddown, pant-leg or shirt-pocket attachment, and an umbrella holddown are among the list of options to choose from. Even Styrofoam coolers can be printed on the Cameo, with a bracket designed for either front or side mounting of the substrate. Other standard features include: foot- pedal operation, independent squeegee and flood speeds, a user-

Roland DG Corporation has launched a new desktop impact printer, Metaza MPX-90, which 90 strikes metallic surfaces with a precision diamond-tipped stylus, reproducing smooth photo gradations, logos and text inscriptions at high speed and pin-sharp accuracy. Peter Kettle, Roland DG 3D sales and product manager, said: “Using Roland’s innovative imprinting technology, the MPX-90 allows you to permanently inscribe a wide variety of differing shaped and sized items, including products much larger than the work table. So, whatever your personalisation needs, whether it is adding dates and names on a baby’s photo frame or engraving a family crest or monogram on silver cutlery as a wedding gift, the MPX- 90 has the flexibility and impact power to create an everlasting impression. “Furthermore, the MPX-90 uses a durable diamond-tipped stylus, which can clearly imprint text, logos and photos on a broad range of materials and finishes including brushed and textured surfaces such as oil-filled lighters and stainless steel watch backs,” he added. “With the bundled intuitive Metaza Studio design software, users can create stunning inscriptions combining photos, illustrations and text.” Precision imprinting on a wide variety

of metallic materials including iron, stainless steel and titanium, the MPX-90 is also ideal for producing the industrial serial plates or directly marking tooling and components for traceability or security/identification purposes – on demand, and with minimal running costs. The bundled Dr. Engrave software allows users to import variable data such as sequential serial numbers and date codes, and quickly output them using the MPX-90. Unlike traditional engravers and laser engraving machines, the MPX-90 allows first-time users to produce perfect results straight away, without complex training, extraction or maintenance. Hannah Powell has been promoted to sales account manager at Crazy Bags. Having been with the company for over a year, she has an in-depth knowledge of the promotional merchandise industry, the issues distributors are facing and the challenges ahead in 2010. Her promotion will see her working with some of the leading distributors from around the UK, advising and supporting them on all aspects of their promotional needs. Comments director, Andy Steavenson: “Last year saw the full bite of the recession, with depreciating market value and tougher trading as a result. "Looking ahead, these new parameters are unlikely to change, continuing to make money harder and harder to find for businesses.” He continues: “Brands will continue to seek more creative and innovative marketing and promotional strategies, looking for affordable and effective solutions that give maximum return on investment and longevity of impact. 2010 therefore poses some great challenges for our industry, but also some strong opportunities if we play our part through education and support. “We are delighted that Hannah will be instrumental in helping us to deliver this for our clients."
