FRUIT OF THE LOOM
A diverse choice with wider appeal
Fruit of the Loom has a polo shirt to meet every golfer’s requirements. “Golf is no longer the preserve of wealthy middle-aged businessmen; it now attracts players of both sexes, from primary school children to pensioners, and from all walks of life,” says Alison McKenzie, the company’s brand director. “This wider appeal has led to the requirement for a broader selection of golfwear to meet golfers’ more diverse clothing tastes and demands. Fruit of the Loom’s collection of 100% cotton polo shirts answer directly to those demands.” The men’s Premium Polo meets the needs of the everyday golfer. “Made from 170/180 gm/m2 100% cotton, (90% cotton/10% polyester for the Ash colourway), the shirt embodies Fruit of the Loom’s close attention to quality and style. A classic golf shirt, the polo benefits from the addition of a contemporary narrow two-button placket with self-colour buttons. There are 15 colours to choose from and sizes range from S- XXL. The Premium Long Sleeve Polo complements the Premium Polo, sharing the Premium Polo’s styling and design details, and adding full-length sleeves finished with cotton elastane cuffs. “The Premium Long Sleeve Polo is a popular choice for spring and autumn play, and early morning rounds in the summer, offering some welcome extra warmth and protection on fresh days,” says Alison McKenzie. The garment is available in eight of the Premium Polo’s colours and in the same, (S-XXL), range of sizes. The Tipped Polo is the quintessential modern golf

shirt. Made from the same 100% cotton fabric as the Premium Polos, and featuring the same narrow two-button placket, it adds single stripe tipping to the collar and cuffs for a more dynamic, sporty appearance. There are six contrast colourways on offer and sizes run from S- XXL. The Slim Fit Polo is targeted at younger, more fashion-conscious male golfers. The shirt is made from Fruit of the Loom’s soft- feel, heavyweight, (210/220 gm/m2), 97% cotton/3% elastane fabric. The fabric’s inherent stretch properties complement the garment’s fitted cut, which in turn is complemented by the polo’s fashionable shorter body length. “The slim fitting creates a flattering silhouette for younger players with trim figures, while the stretchy fabric ensures complete freedom of movement and a comfortable swing,” Alison McKenzie explains. The Slim Fit Polo comes in five colours and sizes S-XXL The Lady-Fit Polo uses the same stretchy cotton/elastane fabric blend, combined with shaped side seams for an equally flattering fit. The shirt has been restyled in 2010 with a longer body length for an improved fit. This has the added advantage of preventing the shirt from rising up above the waistline during a powerful swing. It is finished with side vents and a narrow two-button placket with self-coloured buttons. It is available in eight colours and an extra wide range of sizes – XXS-XXL (XXS available in sky blue or white only). For the ultimate golf shirt, there is the Heavy Polo.

“Designed for discerning golf experts, once the shirt has been embellished with a crest or logo it makes a fantastic giveaway for players at prestigious corporate golf days, can be included in a winner’s prize package for club competitions, and is also perfect for pro-shop merchandise,” Alison McKenzie comments. It is made from extra heavyweight 230/240 gm/m2 100% cotton fabric (70% cotton/30% viscose for the dark heather grey colourway), and features contemporary open cuffs and a narrow two-button placket. A distinctive textured stripe detail to the collar underlines the shirt’s prestige appeal. Available in sizes S-XXL, the Heavy Polo comes in eight colours.
