record-breaking year for

Printwear & Promotion LIVE!

Editor Debbie Eales takes a retrospective look at this year's action-packed Printwear & Promotion LIVE! which proved to be yet another record- breaking show

T

he 21st Printwear & Promotion LIVE! closed on March 2, with Exhibitions Manager, Richard Smith, reporting another record-breaking year. With visitor numbers up 2% on last-year's show – also a record-breaker – Printwear &

Promotion LIVE! is bucking the national trend with almost 4,500 attendees. The show – acknowledged as the leading UK event in the garment decoration market – was held over three days at Birmingham's NEC. And for the first time, the International Promota Show co-located with P&P LIVE! on the second and third days. Said Richard Smith: "In the current financial climate, and at a time when the NEC are reporting a 30% per cent reduction in visitor numbers, we are delighted to report that not only did we hold our visitor numbers for 2010, but we actually exceeded last year's attendance by 2%, making it the second consecutive record- breaking year for Printwear & Promotion LIVE! "Many exhibitors said it was the best show that they had been to in many a year, with some reporting that they'd had the best results in the last 10 years of exhibiting at trade shows. "Coupled with the high levels of solid inquiries, many from new customers, Printwear & Promotion LIVE is being hailed as a success all round." Exhibitor, Jim Nicol, managing director of TheMagicTouch said: "We have all agreed this was indeed the best show ever and we're looking forward to 2011." The show covered all areas of the printwear market, from leisurewear, schoolwear, sportswear, caps and bags to the latest in embroidery, transfer and digital technology, as well as ancillary products. This year's professionally choreographed fashion shows were massively popular, with standing room only (see pages 32 and 33). It was the same story over in the Knowledge Transfer Suite, where the seminar programme attracted high numbers of visitors. Our thanks go to Target Transfers, Wilcom, AJS Embroidery, Clareville Communications, Madeira UK and the BPMA for their seminar presentations. Visitors - many of whom travelled from the Continent - were also able to see the winners and runners-up in this year's Printwear & Promotion Garment Decoration Awards, sponsored by Crystal Galleries.
