champion at last year’s Dairy Expo. Fresh at the end of October she was shown giving 47kg a day and is projected to give 12,000kg in her third lactation. She was also All Britain junior three year old in 2013 and intermediate champion at AgriScot 2014.
“This cow is a tremendous framed cow and it was her overall capacity that gave her the advantage over the reserve senior champion,” explained Hank.
Standing reserve senior champion and gaining the honourable mention in the breed championship was Yasmin Bradbury’s Peak Gold Rhapsody. This fourth calver was shown nine months calved and giving 45kg a day. She is full sister to last year’s interbreed champion
at UK Dairy Expo and AgriScot Supercow, Peak Goldwyn Rhapsody. Coming through as the winner of an outstanding class of 15 mature cows, Gold Rhapsody stood in the same position at UK Dairy Expo 2012 and 2013.
Honourable mention in the senior championship went to Lordsplain Ross Ruby from the Lawrence family. This third calver was purchased for £1850 as an in-calf heifer from David Martin. Classified VG89 in her second lactation she produced 11,468kg at 3.5%bf and 3.29%p, this Plain-O Durham Ross daughter is out of Lordsplain Forbidden Ruby EX93. Robert Veitch’s Boclair Gold Barbara 2 took the reserve intermediate championship. Purchased privately from David Brewster she calved her second in October and was giving 49kg a day on show day. Sired by the Goldwyn son Boclair Goldwyn she is out of Boclair Shottle Barbara 2 VG85. As a heifer she stood third at Ayr Show and produced 8104kg at 4.53%bf and 3.54%p in 305-days
