Our imaginative plan to create Europe's biggest watersports park at St Catherine's unveiled last year, looks even more exciting in the year 2021. The pressure on space in this crowded island has become even more acute in the meantime, but so too has the demand for sporting facilities and healthy pursuits critical to the well-being of Islanders.


If there is overcrowding, the solution is not to make the Island so unpleasant that people leave; it is to use the existing space more carefully and more imaginatively. No-one - not even those interested in the business opportunities - would want to spoil an area such as St Catherine's, which is one of the jewels in the Island crown.


On the other hand, very careful planning, imaginative thinking, and a lot of resources could even enhance the area or at the very least not detract from its current beauty. After all, we would just be helping to finish off what our forefathers started in the 19th century.
