Hundreds of thousands have been donated so far and there is no intention of stopping. This particular client also gives many hours personally to specific charitable projects on the island, particularly (but not exclusively) those with an environmental focus.
Even prior to relocating to Jersey, the client was incredibly generous when it came to philanthropic giving, and has previously given funding to hospitals for the development of new departmental wings.
Client 2
A client of the firm recently pledged a one off £500,000 donation for Jersey's hospital when the Covid pandemic broke out, with the aim of kickstarting an island-wide fundraiser for the health service, as it battled (and continues to do so) a public health emergency.
The client hopes that the money will be used to bolster the hospital’s ability to protect its staff and to further equip it for treating severe cases of covid-19.
Client 3
Several high net worth clients (both alive and deceased) have left Jersey immovable property to local charities.
With Jersey immovable property it is really important that the charity in question confirms to whoever prepares the will that the charity is able to accept and own Jersey immovable property, as that is not the case for every charity.
Client 4
A client established a Jersey charitable foundation with the aim of relieving poverty on the Island.
Client 5
A client established a company limited by guarantee with the aim of benefitting a certain sector of our local community, having identified a fairly decent 'hole' in the Island's offering for this particular sector of society. The client intends to transfer significant sums (i.e. millions of pounds) into the company for it to develop a site on the Island, which will be used by and for the benefit of that particular sector.
Privacy This firm sees at first hand the contributions that ultra high net worth individuals make to local charities and the Island more generally. However, most readers will never get to know who these people are or indeed their contribution to the island because generally speaking they prefer to retain their privacy.
Should you need advice on wills, trusts, foundations or structuring generally, please do not hesitate to contact Kellyann Ozouf at Collas Crill LLP (

Kellyann Ozouf, who heads up the international private client and trusts team in Jersey said: 'I am delighted to have Dionne join our team on a permanent basis. Having Dionne in our team enables us to provide a service that I don't believe any other private client and trusts team on the island currently offers. Our clients will be looked after in all respects and I am delighted that we will no longer have to advise them to go elsewhere for matrimonial input. Jersey is a very small island and clients (like us) prefer to keep their affairs private. Being a 'one-stop shop' has been very much welcomed by our existing clients.'
Collas Crill's private client offering spans services and expertise in family law, family trusts, foundations, wills, estates and probate, lasting powers of attorney, delegates, residential property and wealth planning generally.
Collas Crill has extended its family law services in the Channel Islands as part of its private client offering.
Partner Dionne Gilbert has joined the international private client and trusts team in Jersey and will work closely with new Guernsey partners Adrian Brown and Elizabeth Couch to build on Collas Crill's family law services across the islands.
With a background in contentious matters, Dionne will offer hands-on contentious input right from the outset, whether in a general succession and planning context or when the firm is instructed at the start of divorce proceedings.
Collas Crill's international private client and trusts team in Jersey currently advises a number of ultra-high-net-worth individuals and their families and regularly needs matrimonial input. Dionne has acted for a number of high profile individuals in hotly contested divorces and she has already become an invaluable member of the team.
Dionne Gilbert said: 'I am very excited to be joining our award-winning international private client team, a move driven by our ever-evolving desire to provide the very best client service and be easy to do business with. I am confident that our clients will benefit from this development.'
