If you were to operate a park with only five rides, what would they be? Why?
Rob Norris, Seabreeze: Just five? I would think a compact waterpark might work. Anchor the park with a wave pool and lounge area. Add a family raft ride and separate tower with two person tube slides. For the little ones, a play structure with slides over a wading pool would be good. Finish off with either a lazy river or mat racer. Good capacity, variety of experiences and attractive to the whole family.
Steve Pastusak, Jolly Roger: A carousel, the quintessential memory maker for kids of all ages. There would be a train to tour the park and relax with friends and family. A Giant Wheel would allow guests to enjoy the panoramic views or perhaps a romantic moment. A roller coaster, providing screams, laughs, and fun for everyone. And who wouldn't want to experience the thrills and chills of a hunted house? I'd want my park to make memories for generations of families to share.
Dallas Jones, Beech Bend Park & Splash Lagoon: I’d have a wood roller coaster because it appeals to the whole family and gives a great ride different than the steel coasters. A steel roller coaster, another great family ride. A carousel: something for the very young and old that you can ride together. A train ride. They are pretty and it’s nice seeing the little infants face light up riding on this one. Finally, a Ferris wheel. It’s a nostalgic ride that never gets old.
