Empowering the guest

Accesso’s TJ Christensen talks guest management, ticketing and queuing technology with Park World’s Bryony Andrews

In what ways has demand for ticketing systems changed in recent years? It used to be that knowing the number of visitors who passed through your gates was enough, but as ticketing technology has advanced, we now have access to data that sheds light on the many factors that influence a guest’s decision-making process. Understanding a guest’s behaviour and thought process – not just the ‘what,’ but also the ‘why’ – behind each purchase allows you to offer added-value offers that are tailored to their needs and wants. While this technology has clear benefits for operators, it’s also a huge advantage for park visitors. An operator’s mission is to provide an exceptional experience for every guest, which should include knowing what your guests want and need, perhaps before they even know themselves. Whether that is achieved through insightful cross-selling messaging as they purchase tickets online or by removing the price barrier with payment plans to purchase annual passes, data-driven ticketing and marketing solutions put the power of choice in your guests’ hands, creating a truly unforgettable experience.

What are the challenges of dealing with a high throughput of visitors and how can technology help parks to manage this? Managing a high influx of guests requires smart, sophisticated technology. No one goes to a theme park to stand in line and this is one of the most frustrating experiences for a guest. Technology such as the accesso Siriusware Access Control module allows guests to bypass walk-up ticket lines, gaining direct access to the park, eliminating the need to wait.

The latest addition to the accesso LoQueue line-up, accesso PrismSM, is a next-generation, wearable device. With just the swipe of a finger on the wristband’s touch- screen menu, guests take their place in a virtual queue for an attraction or show. By not standing in line, guests have more time to enjoy their day and more opportunities to explore the shopping and dining venues within the park. When managing large crowds, it’s critical to maintain a consistent flow of traffic through site entry points and attractions. Speed of use and the ability to continue sales operations during any loss of network connectivity are crucial elements we keep in mind when developing ticketing and queueing solutions.

What trends do you predict will affect ticketing and access control in visitor attractions over the next few years? The industry is going to see a move toward guest empowerment and the call for a streamlined, easy-to-use ticketing and point-of-entry experience that provides guests with more time to do what they came to your park to do.

MAY 2018

As technology advances, we have the opportunity to provide guests with a level of freedom and convenience never seen before. That means less time in line, less time wrestling with complicated ticketing systems and more time making memories and having fun.

How does implementing a ticketing and access control system affect park security? The accesso Passport ticketing suite offers multiple modules and solutions that provide guests with a secure and frictionless park entry experience. Our cutting-edge biometric technology eliminates the need for passholder photos or re- entry hand stamps, keeping guests moving through the turnstiles while verifying their identities. Operators can also take advantage of mobile point-of-sale

ticketing alternatives, using convenient, handheld wireless devices to securely process entry or even deploy additional staff on-site to assist with ticket sales during peak periods.

What can the industry expect from accesso in 2018 and beyond? Accesso will continue to stay on the forefront of cutting-edge technology, providing solutions that help our clients streamline operations, drive revenues, improve guest satisfaction and harness the power of data to educate business and marketing decisions. We are passionate about the industries we serve. The guest experience is the heart of everything we do and is why we have continued to heavily invest in research and development to drive the evolution of our industry.
