The (almost true)

story of Time Traveler A young scientist, inventor and clockmaker by trade, Charles Henry lives in Silver Dollar City with his wife, Anna, and their only daughter, nine-year-old Emmaline. Charles is enthralled with the incredible works of visionary and adventurer, Jules Verne. The author of such incredible tales including Journey to the Center of the Earth, 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea and Around the World in Eighty Days, captures the imagination of many during the late 19th century, including Charles and his young protege. Most townsfolk think of Charles as a

dreamer, with strange notions they don’t quite understand. But they humor his fantastical ideas, as deep down, even though they won't always admit it, they wonder whether it all might be possible. Emmaline, on the other hand, doesn’t

wonder, she knows it’s possible as her dad teaches her everyday people can do amazing things. Charles insists dreaming is important, but you have to do something about those dreams to make a difference. In fact, he and Emmaline often repeat a mantra as they work side by side— ”Dream Big. Do Good.“ Charles is particularly enthralled with the idea of speed, time and flight. He is determined to build a machine that defies time. Today, he and Emmaline invite the most

intrepid townspeople to take fight in his most current prototype, taking riders on a fast and whirling tour which leaves them wondering if time is moving forwards or backwards!

“No other spinning coaster has the features of this ride,” Thomas expands. “It is the fastest, steepest and tallest spinning coaster ever created. In addition, the ride includes two launches and three inversions. The spin is uniquely a controlled spin. The ‘time machines’ may move some degree to the left, then some to the right. Though they can at times turn in a 360º rotation, the cars are not constantly going round and round. The inversions add to the overall guest experience of the ride. The ‘time machines’ turn but are not spinning in a fast whipping motion. The engineers at Mack Rides have designed a great ride that is a high impact thrill ride designed for guests from 9 to 90, as long as they fit the ride requirements.” Silver Dollar City is blessed with great topography that

was used in the layout, but it also complicated construction. “Silver Dollar City is built in the heart of the Ozark Mountains,” Thomas reminds us. “The terrain certainly helps us with high points and low points of any ride. But the terrain also presents many challenges in access to the ride during and after construction. In addition, the mountains of the Ozarks are made of rock. Pouring over 200 massive footers into this rock presented all types of construction challenges.” Time Traveler’s story fits well inside Silver Dollar City.

According to Thomas, “The storyline has driven a ‘Jules Verne’ inspired look that fits into ‘The City’ but is also fresh and new. The overall Time Traveler ride experience is thrilling, fun – and yet unique. Silver Dollar City is the only place you can have this experience. The majority of our guests come from Chicago to Houston, but we also have visitors from all over the United States. There may be parks closer to their homes, but none of them have a ride experience like Time Traveler. This ride helps us to continue to build Silver Dollar City’s brand. Coming off of record attendance in 2017, we believe the park will continue to grow in 2018 and 2019 due to the ride’s popularity and unique features.

“Since Silver Dollar City’s opening day in 1960,” recalls Thomas, “guests have taken a journey back in time with unique and world-class experiences. We strive daily to continue that tradition through our rides, our festivals, our crafts and our food. That pursuit continues in 2018 with Time Traveler - a Revolutionary Coaster Ahead of Our Time.”
