The AALARA 2018 Conference, organised by the Australian Amusement, Leisure and Recreation Association, will take place May 8-10 at the Novotel Twin Waters Sunshine Coast.
he Conference brings together international industry leaders and speakers to present leadership key notes and
educational industry breakout forums, with particular emphasis on the safe and profitable management of attractions and amusement industry businesses. An opportunity for buyers and professionals
from the Australasian attractions, amusement, leisure and recreation industry to connect, it the 2018 conference provides a stellar conference line up. Speakers will include Andreas Anderson, 2018 chairman of the IAAPA board and CEO and president of the Liseberg Group; David Boyd, general manager at Whitsundays Resort Hamilton Island; Erina Kilmore, Australia's Zoo director of sales; customer experience expert Amanda Stevens; Hal McAvoy, interim president
and CEO and CFO of IAAPA, and lawyer Carlie Holt, a specialist in dealing with workplace incident claims. Following high profile accidents at Australian
attractions, a key theme is the industry’s commitment to guest safety. AALARA has played a leading role in industry safety in recent years, and a series of presentations on standards, safety and incident management is expected to attract delegates to the Novotel Twin Waters this month. According to Australasian Leisure Management, a new feature in the Conference program for 2018 is the introduction of ‘thinktank’ sessions, addressing issues including awards and payroll, food and beverage, engineering and workplace safety, crisis communications, leadership, merchandising and retail, the importance of fun, and due diligence.
