What is the secret to hosting a successful ride launch event?


Steve Beckley, Glenwood Springs Adventure Park: Generating buzz and excitement throughout the build is one of the most important things you can do. We like to let our locals know our news first and we kept our audiences up to date with photos, social media posts, progress reports in the media and email newsletters. We also took advantage of IAAPA’s network by pitching the ride to them early. The result was a highly successful launch attended by our community, the media and fans who’d been anxiously awaiting the big day.


David Cromwell, Busch Gardens Williamsburg: There are numerous elements that go into hosting a successful ride launch. First, you have to have a great ride. Secondly, you have to have a great staff to pull it off. Lastly, we feel it’s important to have our guests involved as much as possible. A great example of that was our InvadR launch in April. We had a fun ribbon-cutting presentation that included some theatrics and involved some of our die-hard fans participating as marauding Vikings. It was an exciting way to kick off our great new wooden roller coaster.


Miikka Seppälä, Särkänniemi Theme Park: There is no secret – a successful launch event takes careful planning with regards to market research and a well executed, and creative, marketing campaign. And most of all, a bit of a “daredevil” attitude!
