With EAS just around the corner now the attractions industry is gearing up to showcase their very best work. From amazing innovations within ride technology to the very latest in the world of design and theming, like everyone else I can’t wait to see the fantastic ideas on offer in Berlin this year. Having spoken to many of you the excitement for the show is almost palpable and I’m looking forward to meeting you all and finally putting faces to names! You can find out more about this year’s EAS in our
show preview (pg. 54), but be sure to check their website to make sure you don’t miss out on any of the fantastic events and education sessions taking place during the week long show. This issue features stories from all over the world, and
I’m sure you will find something that peaks your interest. One particular highlight for me is the resurgence of the Casino Pier in New Jersey (superstorm Sandy destroyed part of the pier and the adjacent Breakwater Beach waterpark). Many of us remember that image of the Jet Star coaster in the ocean, and it is great now to see the pier back and better than ever with their brand new attractions - including Hydrus, the new Euro-Fighter coaster from Gertslauer (more on pg. 24). This issue also contains our now renowned annual dark rides special feature! We have scoured the globe for the latest dark rides to open their doors to the public this year, and I’m confident in saying that you wont be disappointed with the fantastic rides we have uncovered. With dark rides such a staple attraction for amusement
parks, and something that has been reinvented time and time again, sometimes it can be hard to see how they could be improved. However, our feature puts rest to that as we showcase the very latest in interactive motion based ride technology, including 3D video mapping projection and advance guidance vehicles from Simworx.
