It’s not that common for two CEOs to leave their positions from relatively similar companies within about a week of each other, but that happened recently in gaming. Novomatic’s Harald Neumann and Merkur’s Charles Hiten both left their roles unexpectedly – to us, at least – and with no replacement stepping immediately into the hotseat. Both positions will be ably covered, no doubt, as the companies are packed with managerial talent. But it can’t be that easy to fi ll such positions from within gaming, at companies of that size, unless promoting from within. There simply are not that many people with the experience to navigate these gaming behemoths in such an incredibly regulated and competitive space. I am available to discuss the vacancies, of course, should either company fancy a chat. Failing that, they could read Sharon Harris’s article on page 40 about what it takes to be a modern CEO in the world of gaming. Finally, with an eye on the devastation a certain virus is causing worldwide – wash your hands.
