New Sun City General Manager appointed

Sun International has appointed Brett Hoppé to the position of General Manager for its Sun City resort. Hoppé is no stranger to Sun City, having

previously served as the Resort’s General Manager of the Soho Hotel (formerly the Sun City Hotel and Casino) between 2008 until 2011, and as Acting Director of Operations at the North West Resort until 2012. He left Sun City to take over the position of Complex GM of the Boardwalk and Fish River Sun in the Eastern Cape. In 2013, Hoppé was appointed to manage the

Sun International CEO, Anthony Leeming said: “During Brett’s 29 years of working for the Group,

On behalf of the Group, I would like to congratulate Brett and to wish him well in his new role.” Hoppé has held numerous positions at the

company, including that of Director of Sales and Marketing for the Group during the development of the Port Ghalib Resort for the M.A.Kharafi Group in Marsa Alam, Egypt as well as a stint as International Sales and Marketing Manager for the group. Kenyan Sportsbetting Firm Sportspesa & Everton Part Ways

Everton has announced it will end its sponsorship deal by Kenyan gambling firm SportPesa at the end of the current season, two years early. The deal was expected to stand for five years, initially agreed in 2017, but increasing calls against the “gamblification” of football is believed to be the reason behind the early cancellation, the Guardian reported. The early termination of the deal, which was worth

£7m a season, follows a strategic review of the club’s commercial operations chief executive, Denise Barrett- Baxendale.Barrett-Baxendale said that in an “ideal world” they would prefer a “different type of sponsor” than a gaming company. An Everton spokesperson said to the British

newspaper: “This has been a difficult decision but one that allows us to best deliver on our commercial plan and to grasp the new opportunities now open to us. “The club would like to thank SportPesa for all of

the work that has been done together, it said. “Our partnership has seen our first team visit Africa on two occasions, as well as former players and club staff, take part in numerous activations in the region. This has allowed us to grow our own footprint in Africa and further strengthen our special relationship with the continent.”
