WorldGaming bans smart glasses at Barcelona shows

WorldGaming has introduced a ban on smart glasses and other wearable recording devices at ICE and iGB Affi liate Barcelona following concerns over intellectual property

protection and attendee privacy. The organiser has updated its Good Neighbour policy to prohibit devices capable of discreetly capturing audio,

video or images, including Meta smart glasses. The decision follows requests from exhibitors

concerned about the potential unauthorised recording and copying of product features and designs.

Under the revised policy, photography and

fi lming must be conducted openly, with appropriate consent and in accordance with the events’ Code of Conduct.

Margaret Dunn, Portfolio Director responsible for ICE and iGB Affi liate Barcelona, said exhibitors had raised concerns about their intellectual property being compromised. She explained that protecting investment in research and development was an important consideration behind the decision. The policy brings WorldGaming into line with other venues and event organisers introducing restrictions on wearable recording technology.
