ActionCOACH franchise partners really are transforming the lives of their business owner clients across the country

Amanda the prospect of starting a business together. This venture had to be close to home with more time for the family and present the opportunity to work with great people, for a fulfilling experience. Little did he know when he first met ActionCOACH in late 2010, it would not just be a new dawn for him and his family, but the start of over a decade of helping businesses in his community realise their dreams too.

Meet ActionCOACH clients: The Day Nursery Ray and Glenda Mitchell launched The Day Nursery in 2008 after their daughter Jenna was struggling to find a nursery for her little girl. With extensive experience in the technology, teaching and hospitality sectors between them, the family launched a nursery business, which quickly dominated their lives. And, with little business acumen to lean on, it soon became clear Jenna and her parents needed guidance in their mission to become the next centre of excellence. “Our friends said we were mad, not

just for starting a business during this turbulent time, but because my parents were at retirement age. It soon became clear we needed some guidance on this mammoth task we had undertaken. After a complimentary strategy session with Action Coach Lucas, in October 2011, the family invested in weekly group coaching sessions.”

Challenges to overcome “Before we met Lucas, we had no idea about business strategy or what it took to run a successful company. My background was catering, my dad’s IT and, although as a teacher my mum had worked with small children, none of us had any business ownership experience.

fter he’d enjoyed a successful career in telecoms, Lucas Vigilante discussed with wife

p Jenna with her family at an ActionCOACH event in 2013 “In our first session with Lucas, he asked

us to write down our goals – not just in business, but in life. My mum wrote down that she dreamt of moving house, a new car, a family holiday – things I never knew she wanted. For the first time, someone was asking us what we wanted out of the business and really got us thinking.

The Results “The initial work with Lucas involved finding what worked, what we could improve on, allowing us to plan how to proactively react to future challenges. Real lightbulb moments! Our business was thriving which meant the children had access to full, engaging sessions.” In 2021, Jenna took over as manager and with a decade of support from her Action Coach Lucas behind her, she took strides to fulfil her family’s mission, winning the BizX CEO of the Year award in 2022. “As a businesswoman and person, I feel

unrecognisable – my priority has changed from income to work-life balance, and my business knowledge has flourished. Currently, we have a team of 29 members

“we’ve quadrupled our profit margin”

and we’ve quadrupled our profit margin. Thanks to the confidence Lucas has given me, I plan to open another nursery. I’m so proud to be fulfilling my family’s legacy.” For Lucas, his success is seeing his

clients succeed, “To be a centre of excellence has always been the family’s business goal – I’m so proud to see them achieve this dream. Jenna has transformed from the person she was – the way she manages herself, and her team, is amazing.”
