FRANCHISEFOCUS “It’s fair to say that we’ve often been an
afterthought when it comes to the property market and the likes of retail and hospitality have always been the preference as commercial tenants. However, we’re now in a position to open health clubs in properties that were previously beyond our wildest dreams and we’re well placed to take advantage of that. “Our growth last year and ongoing performance
has shown that health clubs are an attractive investment opportunity and we’re looking forward to playing an important role in revitalising high streets across the UK and Ireland.”
Bolstering franchisee support With such a strong pipeline of club openings for 2022, Anytime Fitness has strengthened its Franchise Development Team with the addition of new Presales Manager, Matt Cawley. The role plays a key part in franchisees’ club opening journey, supporting them every stage of the way to ensure clubs open with as many members as possible. This support aims to help franchisees get the perfect start to their time with Anytime Fitness and get them on their way to enjoying a signifi cant return on investment.

Matt was Director of Operations across three
franchise-owned Anytime Fitness sites; Farnham, Dorking and Leatherhead. He played a key role in Leatherhead delivering the highest presale numbers of any new club in 2020, overseeing all marketing aspects for the opening and recruitment for the club to make sure targets were hit. Matt’s appointment allows previous Presales
Manager Kieran Smith to progress to the role of New Openings Manager, sitting under Dan Penn, Head of Club Openings. This further enhances the front-end support available to new franchisees and allows them to capitalise on more expertise during the all-important club opening period. “Matt’s appointment is a great move for the
business,” added Ben. “Having a Presales Manager that’s walked the walk and delivered a big presale for a new club in the past 18 months will be hugely valuable to franchisees. He will be able to impart
fi rst-hand advice that will be valued and respected, particularly with him having been in the same shoes as them previously. We’re really excited about what he brings to the team and affi rms our commitment to supporting our franchisees to enjoy a healthy return on investment with us.”
Unparalleled support The growth of the Franchise Development Team reinforces the level of training and support that’s provided to Anytime Fitness franchisees. A signifi cant development in the past 12 months has been the overhaul of Anytime Fitness’ new franchisee induction training. This has pivoted from a three-day training course at the Support ffi ce to eight compulsory modules, comprising face-to-face and virtual sessions. These sessions are delivered by Anytime Fitness team members and expert suppliers and partners. This overhaul has added depth to franchisees’ learning and are staggered at various times during their journey to ensure they’re equipped with all the knowledge to successfully open their club. As well as this, franchisees can access Anytime
Fitness’ new e-learning platform, AF Academy. The platform includes over 1,000 courses that are focussed across their own personal development such as leadership and coaching, but also essential parts of club operations.
