JOURNEY TO SUCCESS

"It has been a learning curve given that it is a totally new sector for me, but my previous experience in management and healthcare combined with the exceptional support from national office has really helped my transition.” Henry has also enjoyed a more people-centred role, something he became detached from when working in management.

Henry has not only grown his business hugely in his first year, but alongside his team he has become thoroughly involved in his local community. Home Instead has been involved with launching the non- visible disability initiative in collaboration with Medway Council, the local college and the neurological society. The company has also worked with the local church, St Augustine’s, to offer

Digital Awareness Workshops to over-65s throughout the community. When Henry lost his first Care Manager eight months after launching, he overcame a great obstacle. He comments: “It was a critical time for us, as things were picking up and we were getting really busy. My focus had to lie in working 'in’ the business and leading the team. Luckily, we quickly recruited a new Care Manager who is excelling – I am supporting her to also understand the business operations, as well as prepare to become the Registered Manager.” Speaking of his aims for the next year,

Henry says: “We are looking to expand our live-in client base and continue to grow our hourly services. We will have a real push on recruitment to expand our team of Care Professionals, which we are hoping will be successful given the recent announcement of the social care visa. I am so glad I made the move to join Home Instead and own my own franchise; exciting times ahead! 
