you won’t be going it alone. As well as practical training, and a course in sales and marketing, you’ll benefit from national marketing campaigns, such as TV, social, pay per click, online, offline and more. You choose how far you want to take
your business. Some franchisees are happy to stick to one van and work alone. Others have several vans or have set up a car care centre and taken on staff. Keith McGowan has been with ChipsAway since 2001 and has the biggest ChipsAway car care centre in the UK. Turning over more than £1million per year, he demonstrates what’s possible if you put in the work. Keith’s background is in the motoring
sector, as he grew up in the body-shop industry within a family business. He was therefore already aware of the strength of the ChipsAway brand and its reputation for producing high-quality minor paintwork repairs. When he initially saw an advert in a franchise magazine, this is what attracted him to the business. “Having grown up in the body-shop
industry, I could see that the traditional body-shop model was broken and we needed to do something different.” Keith was extremely impressed upon
attending an open day at the ChipsAway head office, and he knew that this was the right franchise for him. “My business grew very quickly. I
started off as a man in a van, and after six months I took on my first employee and we opened the workshop. The following January I took on another employee and the business has snowballed from there. “When you own your own business, you
need to have a clear vision of who you want to be and where you want to go. I have always had a clear vision of what I wanted my car care centre to look like. When I first opened my car care centre, I didn’t think it was the best that it could be and I wanted to improve the customer experience. With a clear vision, I have been able to achieve my goals.”
