You can have it all


happen now. This has led me to wonder when most of us stop asking to have everything we want? What’s wrong with wanting it all as a grown up? Absolutely nothing in my mind.

The reality is, of course, that it also takes hard work, lots of it, but maybe you can have it all. With the franchise model, it’s possible to not only have your cake and to eat it, but have multiple cakes… or an entire pick and mix if you wish! The purpose of that rather sweet- toothed metaphor is to illustrate this month’s theme: building a multi-unit business empire. With franchising it’s possible to run more than one business. Some people just get the bug – one franchisee in the multi-unit franchising feature (see pages 24-27) runs up to 50 businesses of his own at a time! But why stop at multiple businesses when you can take on the world? Well, it’s certainly worth considering the benefits of international brands – both those looking to launch in the UK and the home-grown companies that wish to take their goods and services overseas.
