NEC Birmingham Autumn/Winter 19/20 17-19 February 2019

Known for being the largest fashion exhibition in the United Kingdom outside of London, Moda offers brands the opportunity to present their new collections. It showcases womenswear, menswear, accessories and shoes for the upcoming season. The event is hosted at the NEC (National Exhibition Centre) in Birmingham on the outskirts of the city.

Trends

The shapes on display featured softer lines across the board. Traditionally shaped trilbys took on smoother lines and cuts to them at the launch of the winter season, such as was demonstrated with the country style from Failsworth.

Max & Ellie

Undulating saucer shapes were trimmed with self-fabricated trims and thin rouleau loops in soft formations. Gentle sloping features in crowns paired with curving upturned brims dominated the blocked hat shapes.

Snoxell & Gwyther

Flat pattern fabric hats, fur headbands and knitted pieces offered easy-to-wear and -transport options for the wearer. Suzanne Bettley featured wool printed berets and felt cloches, with the winter range an important element of the business with customers who are part of the Jewish community wearing pieces to synagogue.
