Panorama Berlin cooperates with Selvedge Run
In January 2018, Selvedge Run will move into the Marshall House on the grounds of Messe Berlin and will thus be located in the immediate vicinity of Panorama Berlin. Both trade shows will continue to operate independently and will benefit from the synergies created by the joint location.
The cooperation with Selvedge Run means that one can expect a useful thematic addition to the market – especially in conjunction with Panorama Berlin’s successfully established segment, Nova Concept. While Nova Concept covers the denim, progressive casual and lifestyle markets, the focus of Selvedge Run is on quality and crafted goods.
“The cooperation with Selvedge Run gives us the opportunity to further develop our product portfolio for Nova Concept,” says Jörg Wichmann, CEO of Panorama Fashion Fair Berlin GmbH. “The result will be a very interesting product range for the denim and progressive casual markets, one that will really appeal to national and international trade show visitors.”

Lyon, France. Each contest is based on a given theme. For the twelfth edition designers are asked to work on ‘nature’, to be inspired by fauna, flora, etc., with the effects of materials and seasonal colours. The creations should evoke desires of greenery, breathing, rural poetry, etc. Felt material is to be favoured, emphasising technique and innovation. All the hats are featured as an accessory in their own right rather than as an art object. Hats should be sent to the Hat Workshop-Museum by March 4, 2018.
The jury will meet on March 2018. Internationally renowned London milliner Stephen Jones has agreed to be the President of this edition, for the third time, and will be accompanied by industry professionals. From June 2 to October 7, 2018, the exhibition ‘Naturae, chapeau la nature!’ will present a hundred creative pieces. On June 2 and 3, 2018, an inaugural festive weekend will take place, with the award ceremony and a choreographed fashion show staged by the company ‘Faut qu'ça scène’.

Berry Rutjes receives Unesco Certificate
After some heavy-duty campaigning on her part, Berry Rutjes (in the photo standing on the right) has managed to get ‘hatmaking/millinery’ onto the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage, as promoted by the Unesco Convention. The official signing of the certificate was made on 15 September, when Berry was delighted to be presented with her certificate.
This event also marked the opening of a millinery exhibition in the Museum Lunteren.
