DUSSELDORF | Spring/Summer 2018 21 - 24 July 2017

DATE, set up in 2012 after the closure of CPD, takes place in the well-known Fashion House located in the centre of the

clothing sector. It is the largest hat event in the city, attracting the major hat buyers from

Germany and the surrounding countries, with a growing

audience from South Korea and the Far East. It offers affordable collections for both men and

women, both casual and smart. By Carole Denford

D

üsseldorf is Germany’s largest and most established fashion centre. It is a city more noted for its womenswear but one that offers

an unprecedented selection of headwear across the men’s, ladies’ and children’s sector. Collections are presented from the largest hat companies in Germany including Mayser, Seeberger, Wegener, Faustmann, Göttmann and many more, together with other quality European and Ecuadorian labels.

New styles & directions

Markus Faustmann has a great following at this show, where they present a large collection of affordable and easy-to-wear styles across men’s and women’s. This season crushable styles both soft and blocked were popular for the ladies, and for the men, using hemp braid as it is light and airy to wear in natural/brown tones with ‘washed out’ bands and bows.

Sandra Sohn, owner of KS-Collection, had focused on two different trends for the ladies. First is the soft turban, a simple style to be worn on the beach, or a more ornate style for smarter wear. And second was the rain hat in coated polyester for a splash of colour on the dark grey winter days.
