TRADE FAIRS S/S 2018MODA The Accessory Hall

Snoxell-Gwyther took one of the fashion show slots on the central catwalk to present their own

stunning Ascot collection. Running

for at least 15 minutes, it was a lovely display of headwear, elegantly styled with hats positioned perfectly on each model. And if it was a major

outlay the number of visitors on their stand during our visit must have certainly benefited the brand.

Those companies showing only for summer, as for example Nigel

Rayment, are not normally allocated the best positions. This season he

was tucked away two rows from the main headwear aisle and behind a

pillar, but was still busy. A few weeks later when we called, Nigel said he’d increase the orders from MODA substantially for next summer. Two

years ago the company had decided to pull back from China, and yet at MODA this season, he told us, the orders were 60% higher for Luton- made products – incredible!

Making her debut was Liz Divine-

Wright from Tadcaster in Yorkshire, with a collection of ladies’ occasion headwear. As the owner of a

specialist hat shop in Tadcaster called Simply Divine we spoke to her on the show, and why she had selected MODA for the launch: “MODA was the best show for us, it was in the

centre of the country and was large enough to incorporate all areas of fashion. We showed both summer and winter, and received orders on both collections. We loved being in the ‘Aisle of Hats’ and would certainly show again here.”

Graham Eckersley, Sales Director at Whiteley Fischer, reported a good show even though he thought the

footfall was down: “Our customers at MODA come from all over the UK, most from the smaller towns in the South West, the Midlands and the North of England, with regular buyers from Scotland. Sadly there were no international visitors on our

stand this time. The buyers were very upbeat after a good summer season. And colours for next year? Well, for Whiteley it is the sorbet colours, nude and a lot of navy blue.”
