IW3A: Insurance Workshop: Periodontal Coding Insurance Primer 101 9 a.m. - noon Leadership, Personal, and Practice Development Speaker: Pam Throw (AAP staff)


Cost: $250 per person, or Insurance Primer 101 and 201 together for $450; limited attendance; continental breakfast included.


Insurance Primer 101 will educate attendees about dental coding relevant to a periodontal practice. Content is intended for staff new to coding and/or reimbursement for periodontal procedures. This course will identify the typical procedure codes submitted in conjunction with treatment provided by the periodontist. Participants will receive a handout of information to be covered in the presentation.


Educational Objectives:


• Apply American Dental Association (ADA) CDT 2018 and new 2019 codes appropriately for dental insurance submission and reimbursement.


• Learn what procedure codes need documentation and attachments when submitting to insurance.


• Identify the different types of dental insurance to increase effective patient communication.
