Preserving and/or augmenting the alveolar bone following an extraction have become a gold standard in the current world of Implantology. The wound healing process of extraction sockets and the steps leading to facilitating prosthetic based surgical implant placement will be reviewed. Ridge preservation includes atraumatic tooth extraction techniques and the utilization of various materials to maintain the bone volume. A novel, simple, and predictable method of ridge preservation will be discussed.

Implant reconstruction is not a perfect science. Facial and intra-oral changes have been demonstrated in all age groups and both sexes. Such three-dimensional changes over time in the position of teeth, associated bone and soft tissue relative to the static position of implants can introduce negative esthetic and functional consequences. This presentation will discuss appropriate modification of three-dimensional bone and soft tissue grafting of large defects with appropriate sequence changes of site preparation by surgical modification.
