PALM SPRINGS


Newly launched Hotel Paseo is the first new hotel in Greater Palm Springs in 30 years. Linear, low- level buildings, pops of colour and perfectly manicured gardens are synonymous with the Californian desert oasis. Part of the Marriott Autograph Collection, the four- star Hotel Paseo opened in March with 150 rooms, a pool, spa, dining options and a luxurious 26-ft 1950 Airstream Cruiser Suite for a memorable, one-of-a-kind experience. SEATTLE

MISSOURI


This year saw the launch of the first direct flights from Europe into Missouri for fifteen years, including routes with Wow air and Icelandair from the UK into St Louis and Kansas City. Amongst the new sights for travellers is the museum at the revitalised Gateway Arch national park in St Louis, which opened to the public on 3 July and is the culmination of a multi-million dollar campaign to unify the city and update one of the nation’s most recognizable landmarks. The imposing 630ft-tall concrete and stainless-steel structure towers over the St Louis riverfront, commemorating Thomas Jefferson and the role St Louis played in the westward expansion of the US. ■ Stand: NA450


TENNESSEE


Greater Fort Lauderdale is celebrating its arts and cultural initiatives at WTM London. From exploring the impressive murals at Florida’s Downtown Hollywood Mural Project to discovering local artists and creative businesses at the Art Walk in FATVillage, travellers are welcomed to a destination that is thriving thanks to its emerging neighbourhoods. Mount Washington Cog Railway celebrates 150 years in 2019, so New England is inviting visitors to experience the east coast region by train. Amtrak’s Northeast Regional Line from Boston, Massachusetts, connects Rhode Island, the neighbourhoods in Providence that are perfect for foodies and its beautiful Newport Mansions


with the coastal village of Mystic in Connecticut. Visitors can also take the Amtrak’s Downeaster from Boston to Maine stopping off at New Hampshire.
