Projects that celebrate the heritage of Ajman are also in continuing development. Ajman Museum is an 18th-century fort with artefacts and exhibits that provide an insight into the emirate’s culture and history, while Souq Saleh is the place to visit for traditional clothing. The Gold Souq sells both gold and silver jewellery, and there are daily auctions at the nearby fish market. The Ajman Pearl Journey is a unique edutainment experience, teaching visitors about the rich history of the pearling industry in the Arabian Gulf. A dhow boat cruise on this traditional wooden ship offers another interesting way to experience Ajman, whether it’s with a trusted tour operator or chartered for a get-together.

Or try Manama – approximately a one-hour drive from the city centre – for a lush and quiet oasis with an unspoiled natural landscape.
