GETTING THERE AND RETURNING Cruising on a sailboat usually means sailing to a destination and returning to your home port. Depending on your destination, you may sail long stretches toward the wind, across the wind or with the wind. At times you will tack or jibe to avoid hazards or to take advantage of wind shifts or favorable currents.
