In some emergencies, such as being hard aground or suffering engine failure, you may have to request or accept a tow from another boat. Use a strong line like your anchor rode and attach it to a strong part of your boat. Start the tow slowly. Increase the length of the towing line as you increase speed.
Towing Bridle
Tie a bowline in the end of the towing line at the foredeck and lead another strong line through it, an- choring each end on the jib winches in the cockpit.

Bow Bridle
Divide the load on the towline by leading a bridle from the end of the towline to two cleats on the foredeck. Make sure the cleats are through- bolted to substantial backing plates in order to carry the load.
