Between the lush Maya Mountains and the turquoise Caribbean Sea, award-winning Hamanasi is a boutique eco-luxury resort from which guests can explore the best of Belize and offshore. Hamanasi Resort is located right on the beach in Southern Belize, one mile south of the traditional Garifuna village of Hopkins. Offshore lies the Belize Barrier Reef and three
of the Caribbean’s four atolls, where Hamanasi offers daily snorkelling and diving trips. Inland, guests can climb ancient Mayan pyramids, hike the world’s only jaguar reserve, spot hundreds of species of birds, explore unique cave systems and cool off in rainforest waterfalls. After a full day of exploring, guests can relax by
Hamanasi’s infinity pool or sway in hammocks on the beach. In the Great House at the centre of the resort are the bar, restaurant and library. Beachside spa services and yoga are available. Hamanasi features 30 beachfront rooms,
suites and treehouses. All rooms have handmade Belizean hardwood furnishings, plush linens, air conditioning, colourfully tiled bathrooms
and private porches. Beachfront rooms feature stunning views of the Caribbean, while tucked in the littoral forest are free-standing treehouses on stilts, which provide privacy and comfort. Deluxe treehouses have a living room with a small bar, a large bathroom and a wraparound deck with a whirlpool bath. The surrounding trees are home to wildlife, such as colourful tropical birds, iguanas, coatimundis, agoutis, kinkajous and more. As an eco resort, Hamanasi isn’t just committed
to being sustainable, but to actively regenerating the environment and surrounding communities. The team have planted thousands of trees and bushes and maintain a 26-acre reserve. The resort has eliminated single-use plastic and gives all guests a stainless-steel water bottle. There’s also an organic garden, composting facility and recycling programme. Guests are invited to participate in the Pack for
a Purpose initiative supporting local schools and the humane society. Also, each week, guests can learn about Hamanasi’s eco initiatives during the Green Team’s Green Hour.
