PAID CONTENT FOR WOODHOUSE MOUNTAIN LODGE
Woodhouse Mountain Lodge AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND
Woodhouse Mountain Lodge is nestled within 247 acres of undulating rural landscape known as Kourawhero Estate, just an hour’ s drive north of New Zealand’s largest city, Auckland. The sprawling estate is named after the native New Zealand crayfish, the koura, which can sometimes be spotted in the waterways within the grounds. The contemporary family-owned property
consists of a main lodge building housing the communal guest areas with stunning views as far as the islands of Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf. The lodge’s stylish interior is adorned with local and international artworks, a well-stocked cocktail bar and library as well as a gracious dining room. A hearty breakfast is included and dinner is optional with creative and delicious options on the carefully crafted à la carte menu. Lanes and pathways flanked by native trees
radiate out from the main lodge, and lead to the 18 villa accommodations dotted within the landscape. Each well-appointed villa has its own outdoor seating, ranch sliders and large picture
windows. There is a spacious open-plan bedroom and generous bathroom with double vanity and double showers to ensure a comfortable stay. Guests are encouraged to make time to explore
the local area. From Woodhouse it’s a short drive to some of North Auckland’s best-known attractions. Matakana is famed for its gourmet and artisanal food and wine production as well as craft beer and excellent produce, and the Matakana Farmers’ Market each Saturday is an absolute must-visit. Art is a significant feature in the region, and the Lodge team is on hand to recommend favourite go-to locations such as the Sculptureum. For those keen on a more active day out, there’s an 18-hole golf course nearby as well as options for cycling, kayaking, taking a cruise on the river or exploring one of the regional parks in the area. As well as divine leisure stays, Woodhouse
offers the perfect location for exclusive-use events and celebrations such as special birthdays, family reunions or intimate weddings, all guaranteed to wow guests and leave a lasting memory.
Don’t miss Enjoy pre-dinner drinks on the terrace surrounded by the sound of native birdsong and views across the Matakana hinterland
