Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel was built for the very first time in 2000, becoming the world’s northernmost igloo hotel and the first one in Norway. capital of the world’, offers the opportunity to spend time in the great outdoors hunting for the Aurora Borealis. Sorrisniva has a wide range of activities and experiences that provide the best chance at catching a glimpse of this natural phenomenon. These include snowmobiling under the Northern Lights, snowshoeing and hunting the Lights by car. Just as the Lights play an important role in


Alta’s cultural history, so too do the Indigenous people. To this day, the Sami people continue to live their traditional semi-nomadic lifestyle with their reindeer herds. Sorrisniva works closely with local Sami families to provide guests with authentic introductions to Sami culture.
