PAID CONTENT FOR MASSERIA DELLA VOLPE

Masseria della Volpe SICILY, ITALY

Masseria della Volpe estate, originally used for the production and harvesting of olives and citrus fruit, is a late-19th-century masseria (farm) that has been converted into a sophisticated resort combining exclusive hospitality with an eco-sustainable philosophy. This ethos is apparent in every aspect of its management. The hotel has drastically reduced the use of plastic and produces a large portion of its own energ (much of the electricity that powers Masseria della Volpe comes from the solar panels that cover the hotel’s car parking area). The restoration project was carried out with great respect for the original materials and maintains a connection with the Val di Noto countryside. As well as the friendly, professional staff,

guests are greeted by gardens with olive, citrus and carob trees, a verdant park and a magnificent view of the Noto Valley. It’s easy to organise day trips when staying

at Masseria della Volpe, to discover the famous south-eastern part of the island. Sicilian baroque architecture, an expression of the island’s

extraordinary cultural heritage, can be seen at its best in Noto, Modica, Ragusa, Scicli and Siracusa — UNESCO certainly didn’t make these cities of art into World Heritage Sites by chance. The resort helipad is available for guests who

prefer an alternative means of getting around and plan to visit places further afield, such as the ancient theatre of Taormina, the gorges of Alcantara, the seven jewels of the Aeolian Islands or Mount Etna — the highest active volcano in Europe. What’s more, the whole area around Masseria della Volpe, both on the Ionian and Mediterranean sides of the island, is dotted with beaches, some small and private, others long and wild, and a few are WWF nature reserves. The estate farm’s organic produce and high

quality local products combine with passion to great effect at Codarossa restaurant, which is overseen by award-winning chef Giorgio Di Rosa. Innovative dishes that reimagine Sicilian culinary traditions can also be enjoyed on the open terrace of the restaurant or on the pool deck under old olive trees.

Don’t miss Savour the truly unique experience of taking a helicopter tour over Sicily for a bird’s eye view of the beautiful island
