PAID CONTENT FOR MONSIEUR DIDOT
Monsieur Didot ATHENS, GREECE
The concept of Monsieur Didot fits into the dynamic, cultural and artistic neighbourhood of Kolonaki where it resides. Kolonaki once acted as a meeting place for writers and literary minds. This history is apparent throughout the building, with large bookcases drawing visitors in to discover their enticing collectible and modern editions. Art, culture, books and typography is what
inspires the hotel. Monsieur Didot is designed to prompt guests to learn, explore and be curious. It’s influenced by the neighbourhood’s dynamism and its culture, respects the environment and aspires to offer guests a meaningful and memorable experience, one that’s created and embodied with care, attention to detail and an emphasis on authenticity. The listed neoclassical building, dating back to
1880, is where guests stay. Its revival goes hand in hand with a deep respect for its unique character and a renegotiation of its neoclassical elements. A sequence of exciting spaces with hand-painted ceilings and walls and mosaic floors, made using traditional methods and natural materials plus
modern construction techniques, adds a natural continuity to the structure’s historical heritage. Bookcases throughout the building, framed works by famous artists, handmade ceramics and custom-designed lighting and furniture are all part of the building’s fabric. Monsieur Didot welcomes guests in four rooms
and two suites governed by luxurious simplicity and elegance. With names inspired by poetry and prose, each room and suite tells a unique story. A stay at Monsieur Didot embraces a ‘home away
from home’ philosophy, with personalised service and tailor-made recommendations. Monsieur Didot aspires to become the channel through which travellers get to know Athens, offering them the opportunity to organise their time in such a way as to obtain the maximum number of experiences from the city. These include vineyard tours, food and wine city tours, sightseeing tours, bike city and Athens riviera tours, hammam experience, dance lessons, street culture tours, cooking lessons, sailing experiences, cruises and day trips dedicated to sightseeing outside Athens.
