opened the iconic Villa Bagatelle bistro in the neighbouring building 12 years ago. The spot soon became known as one of the best breakfast places in town. The building also houses an artisan confectionery and bakery that produces handmade, high-quality breads and pastries. However, the couple always dreamed of a place where they would book a room to stay in, too. A place where every guest has the feeling they’re visiting family members.† In 2020, this dream came true and the
Gardenhouse was opened. As sources of inspiration and harmony, art, nature and literature play an important role in Ágnes and Albrecht’s lives. Art is present in many forms in the building. The interior is a nice coexistence
of design furniture, the owners’ personal objects, unique, hand-picked accessories, and contemporary ceramics and artwork. This stylish six-room home-from-home hotel is
on the hilly Buda side of Budapest. All six rooms are of different character and
style. Each room is furnished with iconic design furniture combined with accessories made by contemporary Hungarian artists. It’s possible to rent the entire villa. The villa is set amid a peaceful garden where
something is always in bloom. The Gardenroom is the public space of the villa; its large glass surfaces make it feel like part of the garden. Single-use plastics are shunned and the
hotel only uses recycled paper to write on or for packaging. Tap water is filtered using a purification system and bottled in-house. The soap in the bathrooms is made only from natural ingredients, and cleaning products are environmentally friendly. Through these small steps, the hotel contribute to a more sustainable and greener future.
