A busy few months for the West Midlands Branch
The West Midlands Branch continues to build momentum with a range of exciting initiatives and collaborative efforts that reflect our commitment to professional development, social value, and cross-sector engagement, reports Branch Chair, Steve Lawley.
He said: “This autumn, our members are proud to be supporting a social value project at a school in Walsall, offering time, expertise, and resources, to make a meaningful impact. This initiative will run through September and October, and we’re thrilled to see such strong engagement from our regional community. “Our Chartered Engineer preparation cohort kicks off on 26 September, with six members already signed up and supported by external contributors. The programme will run every two weeks across six sessions, providing a structured and supportive pathway for those pursuing professional registration.

“In a spirit of collaboration, the chairs of IHEEM West Midlands and CIPFA West Midlands are working together to explore how we can better promote the Estates Director function to finance colleagues and vice versa – to foster mutual understanding and stronger working relationships. “Our WhatsApp help group remains active, and has proven to be a valuable resource for members seeking advice and peer support,” Steve Lawley continued. “Looking ahead to 2025/26, we aim to build on this success by developing a more collaborative
approach to document and knowledge sharing. “On the social side, we’ve
booked a Branch breakfast at Dishoom in Birmingham City Centre on 29 October this year – a great opportunity to catch up informally and strengthen connections. If you’d like to join us, then please contact me at steve.
