Playson: our formula for iGaming success in the Balkans
Last month, Playson promoted Senior Account Manager, Christos Zoulianitis, to Head of Partnerships, a new role within the company’s commercial team. Since joining the digital entertainment supplier in 2018, Christos has played a key role in supporting associates and managing Playson partners in the Balkans and Greece. Sitting down with G3, Playson's Head of Partnerships casts his expert eye over these iGaming markets.
Christos, congratulations on your new role. What's your remit?
Tank you, I’m extremely happy to have been promoted to Playson’s Head of Partnerships. Since joining the company in 2018, I’ve really enjoyed my time here and can’t wait to assist the company’s next wave of growth in this newly created role.
In recent years we’ve been expanding our presence in a variety of markets and now we want to improve on our efforts and develop rapidly across the globe. As Head of Partnerships, I will oversee our network of operator partners, building and maintaining relationships in all regulated markets, whilst spearheading the company’s entry into new regions.
How significant are the Balkans and Greece for Playson's commercial strategy going forwards compared to new and emerging markets in the US and Latin America?
As a company, we’re focusing on regulated European markets with the Balkans and Greece being very important regions for us. You can see the significance of these provinces to Playson by visiting the sites of our local operator partners, as our titles feature prominently on premium positions and our promotions having their own dedicated category.
Te main reason our content performs well there is because of the high-quality we offer.

The Greek market is growing every month, and this is a good sign for us since we’re one of the leading providers in the country. Going live with the operators mentioned might give you a great amount of market-share, but we’ve
noticed that this isn’t enough due to the strong level of competition.
Additionally, we’ve launched new titles that are experiencing similar success, including Lion Gems: Hold and Win, Royal Coins: Hold and Win and Luxor Gold: Hold and Win. While casino games are a primary reason of our success, our network promotions are very much a part of this growth, with our CashDays, Non-Stop Drop & Friday Cash Flash tournaments giving away cash prizes worth more than €300,000 every month.
At the moment we are monitoring the US market, but there are no immediate plans to enter the US. Although, emerging markets like Ontario and Latin America have caught our attention and now form part of our commercial strategy. We seek to grow alongside our partners, and there’s always a demand for high- performing content in developing markets.
The Greek online gambling market has been booming with a trio of operators, Stoiximan, Bet365 and Sportingbet, dominating. Is succeeding in Greece simply a case of getting games live with these operators and sitting back?
