December, 2017 Kistler Launches Mobile Test System in U.S.

Amherst, NY — The Kistler Group is launching its Schatz mobile testing systems for bolted joint analysis and tool testing in the U.S. Kistler acquired Schatz GmbH in 2016, and has since expanded its bolted joint technology. Bolted joints are the backbone

of many industry segments, as they connect electronic components, auto- motive parts and machines. The qual- ity of bolted joints is an important risk and cost factor. According to con- sulting firm Archetype Joint, the automotive industry assumes that 70 percent of warranty costs and 20 per-

cent of all recall actions are caused directly or indirectly by faulty threaded joints. Kistler is delivering quality con-

trol systems for fasteners, namely the Schatz combiTEST and the INSPECTpro. These systems provide numerous benefits that include decreased costs, increased quality of fastening processes, process security and efficiency, and protection from product liability cases. The combiTEST mobile system

combines the calibration of manual torque wrenches with the testing of fastening tools. This compact, bat-

tery-charged device offers conven- ient, real-time testing of all tools on an assembly line. By ensuring the functionality of their tools, customers can substantially cut the costs of tool sampling tests that must be carried out regularly, accurately and in com- pliance with testing standards. The Schatz INSPECTpro, a

portable measurement and evalua- tion instrument, offers a convenient way to test torque and rotation angle on threaded joints. This system pro- vides graphic analyses of assembly processes to ensure that threaded joint assemblies meet quality stan-

dards. The system’s new tool manage- ment license allows tools to be tested and stored. Later on, they can be called up directly in tool testing mode.
