EV Battery Short-Circuit Effects Shown in Video From AEM Components
San Diego, CA — In collaboration with EETech Labs, AEM Compo - nents has produced a video that
demonstrates the effect on circuit protection devices when subjected to worst-case electric vehicle (EV) bat- tery short circuit conditions. The video highlights the advantages of using the company’s AirMatrix® wire-in-air fuse as opposed to using competing surface mount fuses. The video can be found online at:

damage that EV battery short cir- cuits can do to fuses. Automotive specifications require circuit protec- tion to break the circuit without causing damage to PCBs or other components in the system. The AEM wire-in-air fuse technology is able to comply with this prerequisite by remaining intact. Competitive fuses that were
also tested under the same condi- tions not only caught on fire, but also caused damage to the PCB on which they were mounted. The new wire-in-air AirMatrix
(QA-F and QA-H series) are manu- factured in AEM’s TS16949-certified facility. The QA series has high cur- rent ratings — up to 20A and 250V — and its proprietary, air-tight, wire- in-air structure is designed to ensure
