CES and World Bank Group Launch Global Tech Challenge
Arlington, VA — The Consumer Technology Association (CTA®) has partnered with the World Bank Group to mobilize the tech communi- ty and create solutions focused on key development challenges through a joint global challenge. The Global Tech Challenge, pre-
sented by CES and the World Bank Group, will launch at CES® 2020, and focus on three key areas — health, gender barriers and technolo- gies that enable communities to be more resilient in the face of disasters and climate change. CES and the World Bank Group
will also collaborate on conference programming opportunities at CES 2020 with content focused on the intersection of technology and devel- opment. “Tech innovation has helped to
solve some of the most challenging issues in our global society, from breakthroughs in medicine and health care to education, disaster relief, pollution reduction, sustain- able agriculture and beyond,” says Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CTA. “Our global challenge with the World Bank Group calls on tech com- panies around the world to create solutions to some of our biggest prob- lems, and we look forward to wit- nessing their revolutionary ideas that will change the world.” “Across emerging markets and
developing economies, thousands of entrepreneurs are coming up with innovative solutions to solve their countries’ most pressing develop- ment issues,” says Makhtar Diop, World Bank’s VP of infrastructure.

Scaled Composites and was named one of TIME’s “world’s 100 most in - flu ential people” in 2005. Rutan designed the legendary
Voyager, the first aircraft to circle the world nonstop without refueling. He also created SpaceShipOne, the world’s first privately funded space- craft, which won the $10 million Ansari X Prize, offered in an effort to spur the development of affordable space tourism. Rutan is currently working on
two projects: the Stratolaunch, which is part airplane and part spaceship; and the SkiGull, an amphibious air- craft that runs on the same gas we
use for cars and boats. In business, Rutan believes that
the best ideas come from the collabo- rative efforts of small, closely knit project teams and an environment not limited by adversity to risk. He will inspire IPC APEX Expo keynote attendees with his vision on creativi- ty, innovation and manager’s tasks to motivate a creative team. Contact: IPC — Association
